  • Counting the Casualties

Israel’s Internal Security Minister said yesterday on the BBC " We are bombing for Peace, by demolishing the back-bone of Hezbollah we will free Lebanon of its terrorist captors.

Those words made me think, Hmm... Bombing for Peace, it's like Fu*king for Virginity, it just dose not make sense well at least to someone like me anyway. It didn’t work in Afghanistan and sure as hell didn’t work in Iraq, but that is besides the point.

Although i am probably one of the only Muslims that sides with Israel’s rights to defend her self, we must never forget that Israel has the most advanced, sophisticated and experienced army in the region and is using it for all its worth in the recent conflict.

However we must ask ourselves, by attacking Lebanon and destroying its infrastructure creating a humanitarian crisis similar to Darfur and Palestine is Israel’s actions helping Regional stability?

Israel said it would turn the clock back on Lebanon 20 years and spare no effort in retrieving its soldiers, most of us look at the ruins of the beautiful prospering city labelled "the Paris of the east" now in ruins and believe Israel has achieved its goal, actually 20 years ago Lebanon had no real political force. The country was politically instable and the majority party was Hezbollah and rival factions fighting for power.

Now coming to the second of Israel’s objective which was retrieving the two soldiers, well the regional power is yet to free its corporal from the talons of hamas let alone hunt down the abductors from Hezbollah.

I would constantly be shunned by my peers when i would say that Israel lives in a predominantly hostile Arab dominated region which see Israel’s existence as immaterial and should the chance be given would not hesitate to act on their plans.

However recently i have been baffled by the ferocity of Israel’s attacks on Lebanon and Gaza, as the death toll mounts we would have thought that our great leaders in the G8 summit would come to cries of orphaned children and widowed wives? Well guess again, as of today Israel has another 3 weeks to continue pounding innocent civilians before serious pressure is applied to Israel by the International Community.

And while the British compare the mass evacuation of Britons and Commonwealth citizens out of Lebanon to "Dunkirk" the evacuation of British troops in WW2 and while leaders both Arab and western debate and twiddle their thumbs, while Hezbollah smirks for getting its way, when all this is happening, who is counting the Casualties? on both sides but especially in Lebanon and Gaza? We should speak with one voice, that although Israel as any other sovereign nation "Lebanon included" has a right to defend itself the mass murder of civilians cannot be accepted in today's day and age a UN Peace keeping and Assistance force should be deployed into Lebanon and WHO officials allowed to survey Gaza.

For if we don’t take action now to prevent any future acts like the ones that go one today, what for the future? We are all remembered for the Legacy we leave our children, I for one do not want to leave a legacy of Hate, Death and Misery for mine.

  • Adding Insult to Injury

On the eve of tOn the eve of the reflect on the loss of lives on 7/7 when terrorists detonated their bombs with devastating impact the shady and cowardly AQN or Al-Qeadea Network released a video of the "Suicide Bombers" who took part in this outrageous event.
This broadcast of the video in my humble belief only played into the hands of the terrorists, they made this video purely as a promotional and propaganda tool which worked wonderfully and overshadowed what was meant to be a day of remembrance and grief.
Now 9 days on and the inquiry into the killing of an innocent "Brazilian" electricians apprentice by armed police lead to no real conviction, instead the metropolitan police force will be charged under the duty of care "a part of Human Rights Law" now how they managed to tie in Corporate manslaughter "Gross negligence" and Health and Safety is a big mystery to me however the expressions of the family members said it all.
This i am sure will further dent the Met's already damaged reputation with London's multicultural communities, however the party that are not to blame and individual officers instead the guillotine should be prepped for the senior commanding officers such as Asst.Commander (Dick).
Perhaps the IPCC (in charge of the Inquiry) should have examined how the U.S. Internal Affairs Bureau dose it's job and a mighty good one it dose too...
Now coming to the recent news that several "Pro-Jihad" organizations will be banned or prescribed as it may be, i for one am glad organizations such as the Saved Sect and HBT do not represent the voice of Muslims and neither dose the so called "Muslim Council of Britain"...
However the timing of the development could not have been worse, a crisis in the Middle East, poor police accountability, Forrest gate and the growing lethargy of global powers to intervene in the Deepening crisis between Lebanon and Israel will only fuel the fires that help recruit and poison the "Angry Young masses" across the muslin world, i am afraid our leaders and playing right into their hands.

And the media often using terms such as "Mad Mullah's and Mad Muslims wont help either, a few days back on a channel 5 talkshow one of the panel members said most muslims are terrorists. "Thankyou for your detailed and indepth analysis into a growing international problem and hallmarking a religion of 1.6 billion follower's as fanatical fruitcakes.

In a bit of lighter news: Alton Towers(r) one of the UK's leading amusement parks has been booked out for a Muslim day on Sunday 17th September 2006 organised by Islamic Leisure Up to 28,000 are expected at Alton Towers on September 17 when there will be no music, booze or gambling and ONLY halal food will be served.
WTF? Did i drift off and wake up in post modern Iran? OK, even though i am a Muslim for me not only dose this seem hypocritical but is a wonderful opportunity for extremists elements on both sides to exploit this event. If this was meant as a outreach project it is certainly not that "imposing your culture on another is just not cricket".
